Garoutte, Helen Malone
Helen Malone Garoutte, age 90, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of Knoxville, Illinois, died on Sunday, August 15, 2010 at 2:55 P.M. at Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born on August 1, 1920 in Eliza, Illinois, the daughter of Frank and Mary McCormick Pullen. She married Harold F. Malone in 1945 in Galesburg, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1953. She then married John O. Garoutte on June 24, 1956 in Knoxville, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1984.

Surviving are four daughters, Jeanne Flowers of Colona, Illinois, Kay (Tom) Walter of Knoxville, Illinois, Jo Ann Walker of Fort Worth, Texas and Joyce (Dan) Stogdill of Nesbitt, Mississippi; two sons, David (Brenda) Malone of Knoxville, Illinois and Tony (Sue) Garoutte of Gilson, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandson and two sisters, Margery Carlton of Galesburg, Illinois and Mary Cecil of Galesburg, Illinois. Her parents, two husbands, one sister: Marilyn Wingo and one brother preceded her in death.
She graduated from Keithsburg High School in Keithsburg, Illinois. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Knoxville School District Superintendent's Office, then later worked as a bookkeeper for the City of Knoxville, retiring in 1982. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Knoxville, Illinois. She enjoyed, crocheting, knitting, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Rev. David Shreeves officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. After the Funeral Services, Fellowship will be held at the Hurd Hendricks Fellowship Center prior to burial in Galva Cemetery in Galva, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Alzheimer's Association or American Heart Association.
