|James E. Weinberg, 74, 121 W. Simmons St., Galesburg, died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at home.
He was born August 27, 1935 in Galesburg, the son of Hjalmer and Thelma Wilfong Weinberg. He married Billie White in 1957 in Galesburg.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Weinberg and Greg Weinberg, both of Galesburg, a daughter, Terri Weinberg of Cambridge, Ill., seven grandchildren, Aaron (and Amanda) Mielke, Nicholas Mielke, Michala Mielke, Rachel Carlson, Jamie Weinberg, Jason Weinberg, and Jacob Weinberg, two great grandchildren, Kyler Weinberg and Alora Mielke, and three sisters, Lois Kidder in Arizona, Dorothy Bern of Avon, Ill., and Jean (and Marvin) Johnson of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Douglas Weinberg on April 1, 2008, and two brothers.
James was a brick mason for 43 years and also was a partner of Weinberg Masonry. He retired in 2000. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1957. James was a former member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #894.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2010 in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate and military rites will be accorded by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Covenant Church.
