Crisman, William A.
Dr. William Albert Crisman, 75, 1189 Pine St., Galesburg, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at home.

He was born June 19, 1935 in Olmsted, Ill., the son of Albert and Wilma E. Sauerbrun Crisman. He married Edwina Herring on April 30, 1960 in Davenport, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Edwina and three daughters, Amy (and Doug) Howell of Springfield, Ill., Wendy (and Jeff) Bittner of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Sara (and Scott) Miller of Omaha, Neb. William was a loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Erica, Drake, and Emily Bittner, Brandon and Billy Howell, and Ethan and Eric Ritonya. Two sisters also survive, Mary Alice Saladino of Lompoc, Calif. and Terra Ayres of St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Eric Crisman on January 10, 1981.

William graduated from Mounds City High School in 1953 and attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He graduated with honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1959. He was a doctor of Chiropractic in Galesburg for 43 years, retiring in April 2003.

William was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Galesburg, where he was an elder. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club with 26 years of perfect attendance. William was an accomplished woodworker who enjoyed designing and building pieces for friends and family. He had a love for gardening, fishing, and photography.

Throughout his personal and professional endeavors his foremost passion was being a mentor, friend, and brother through Christ to all.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Elder Bob Kyser and Elder Jim Hannah will officiate. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Community of Christ Church or Kiwanis Club of Galesburg.
