Gustafson, Ethel E.
Ethel E. Gustafson, 100, of Monmouth, formerly of Alexis, died at 11:57 P.M. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at the Courtyard Estates in Monmouth.

She was born Oct. 27, 1909 in Rozetta Township, Henderson County, IL, the daughter of William and Grace (Fisher) Goff. She was raised and educated in Henderson Co. attending Science Hill and Rozetta Grade School. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class from Oquawka High School in 1928.

Ethel married Helmer Gustafson in Peoria on Jan. 1, 1935 and he died July 10, 1969.

She was a Farm wife and worked as an LPN for several years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, sewing quilts and handiwork. She loved spending time with her family.

Ethel was a member of the Norwood Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Lorraine Brownlee of Monmouth, Donna (Orville) Lind of Maine; on son, Linn (Nora) Gustafson of Colorado Springs, CO; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren; one sister in law, Susie Goff of Biggsville, IL and dear friend, Marian Bailey of Alexis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, George Goff and Harland "Spudy" Goff; one sister, Hazel Cooper; son in law, Donald Brownlee; 2 nephews, Cecil Cooper and Clyde Goff.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wed. Aug. 25, 2010 at the Norwood Presbyterian Church with Rev. Agnes Brady officiating. Burial will be in Rozetta Cemetery. Friends may call Tues, Aug. 24, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where her family will be present from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the Norwood Presbyterian Church..
