Damitz, Mazine G.
Maxine G. Damitz, 82, 1281 Russell Ave., Galesburg, died at 6:49 a.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

She was born May 3, 1928 in Galesburg, the daughter of George H. and Myrtle E. Johnson Harbac. She married Harry G. Higgins, Jr. She later married Donald W. Damitz on April 5, 1952 in Galesburg. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Dennis G. (and Dianna ) Higgins of Oquawka, Ill. and Darryl (and Jean ) Damitz of Little York, Ill., a daughter, Donna Damitz of Galesburg, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and a brother, R. Wayne (and Donna) Harbac of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents and a step son, Bill.

Maxine worked as a billing clerk for Brown Specialty in Galesburg for several years before retiring in 1990. She graduated from Galesburg High School. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. John Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Olive-Holeman Cemetery in rural Avon. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
