Franklin, Robert Louis
Robert Louis Franlkin, 67, Dewey, Ariz., formerly of Galesburg, died at 3:35 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 in a motorcycle accident in Scotia, Calif.

He was born November 2, 1943 in Geneseo, Ill. the son of Harold Raymond and Frances Ruth Williams Franklin. He married Ketra Teel (Wanamaker). He later married Patricia Buck (Partain) in 1974.

He is survived by two daughters, Amy (and Matt) Rue of Atlanta, Ga. and Molly (and David) Evert of LaGrange, Ga.; a brother, Albert Eugene (and Helen) Franklin of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister, Ruth (and Jose) Salazar of Galesburg; six grandchildren, Olivia Rue and Jack, Knox, Colin, Cal, and Keeper Grace Evert. Bob is also survived by nieces, Kaylene Hatcher and Chantal Franklin, both of Omaha, Neb. and Anna Marie Smith of Galesburg; a nephew, Ronald Earl Smith of Galesburg; great nieces, Amber Smith and Ashleey Pillars of Galesburg; and a great nephew, Stephen Tyler of Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Howard and Wallace Franklin.

Bob was retired from Intra-State Telephone Company and later retired a second time from Centel Telephone Company, having worked for over 30 years total. He worked various capacities including switchboard repairman, trouble shooter, and installer/repairman. He graduated from Industry High School, Industry, Ill. in 1963.

Bob was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg, where he was a member of the Promise Keepers. He served in various capacities with Wycliffe Bible Translators during his retirement years and participated in numerous mission trips. Bob loved Jesus with all his heart and loved to share his faith with others.

Bob had many hobbies, including photography, riding his BMW motorcycle, fishing, canoeing, and hiking. He was an avid Cardinals fan. He loved his family deeply and will be dearly missed.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Kirk Kendall and Rev. Darrell Garrett will officiate. Visitation will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
