Watkins, Junier B.
Junier B. "Fuzz" Watkins,age 86, of 847 Knox Highway 39, died at 2:55 am Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Care Center of Abingdon.

He was born on June 29, 1925 in Hermon, one of thirteen children born to Herschel D. and Jennie A. (Brown) Watkins. He married Lena Marie Mitchell on November 1, 1947 in Fairview. She survives him. They lived and farmed in the Hermon and London Mills area all their married life.

Also surviving is one son, Sammie (and Rhonda) Watkins of London Mills; four grandchildren, Robert (and Kate) Watkins, Tracie (and Jared) Yocum, Steve (and Tiffany) Watkins, and Jennie (and Zack Brown) Watkins; four great-grandsons, Brandon Dean Watkins, Justin Scott Yocum, Joseph Warren Yocum and Sammie Brown Watkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one infant son, Jeffery Brown Watkins, his parents, six brothers, six sisters and one daughter-in-law, Susan J. (Lewis) Watkins.

Junier attended the Bliss Schoolhouse near Hermon and later served in the US Navy during WW II. He was a past trustee of the Chestnut Township Board and retired as the Township Supervisor, a position he held on the board for over 20 years. He was a past trustee of the London Mills Fire Department. He also served as a precinct committeeman and was a member of the former American Legion Post in London Mills and a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon.

He made a good life for his family by farming. He enjoyed the time that he spent with his family and the many summer fish fries that he and his brother, Warren "Dutch" Watkins, had started together.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Burial will follow in the Abingdon Cemetery with military rites by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381. Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Thursday at the chapel.
