|Mr. Arthur R. Crider, 73, formerly of 349 S. Pearl St., Galesburg died at 5 a.m. Friday August 5, 2011 in Lexington Health Care Center in Orland Park, IL.
He was born January 24, 1938 in Junction City, KS, the son of George Preston and Gladys C. Breen Crider. He married Shirley Hiles on July 25, 1964 in Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on August 30, 2010.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Robert) Adams of Orland Park, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tyler and Madison; and a brother Charles Richard "Dick" Crider of Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Howard Crider.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1964 and was stationed in Newfoundland as an Airman 2nd class.
Arthur worked for Whites Roofing Company and Templeton Roofing Company as a roofer for 20 years. He was a foreman for the Village of Galesburg and also worked for Cherry Street part-time for 10 years. He graduated from Manhattan High School in Kansas in 1957 and attended Kansas State University and Emporia State Teachers College. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #880 and was of the Catholic faith.
Graveside services are schedule for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 in East Linwood Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Rev. Joseph Presley will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
