Trebbe, John B.
John B. "Jack" Trebbe, age 87, formerly of 199 Potawatomi Road, Galesburg, IL, died at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10:14 pm.

Jack was born July 8, 1924 in Galesburg, the son of G. Henry Trebbe and Zilla M. Bushell Trebbe. He is survived by a son, James (and Dina) Trebbe of North Andover, Maine; a daughter, Dr. Susan Haas of Stow, Ohio and four grandchildren, Andrew (and Ann) Haas, Sarah Haas, Carl Haas and Shannon Trebbe. He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Matthew Trebbe and a brother, Donald Trebbe.

He was raised in Galesburg and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1941. He received a Bachelor's Degree from Knox College in 1947 and later received a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois. He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War and retired from the US Navel Reserve as a Lieutenant Commander.

Jack worked as a coach and school administrator in a number of public schools in the Chicago area. He later served as the Dean of the School of Continuing Education for Triton Community College from 1963-1984. He retired in 1984.

Jack was a member of the Soangetaha Country Club and a volunteer for the Knox County Humane Society. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM, Friday, August 19, 2011 at Corpus Christi Church in Galesburg with Rev. William Miller, I.C. officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Thursday, at Hinchliff Pearson West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Knox County Humane Society.
