Hilton, R. Gregory
R. Gregory Hilton, age 91, of Galesburg, Illinois died on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 5:35 P.M. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born on April 14, 1920 in Abingdon, Illinois, the son of Charles DeMont and Faye Marie Hatch Hilton. He was a loving husband and soul mate to his wife, Dorothy Theesfeld. Their first Date was on Valentines Day in 1947, they married on November 8, 1947 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg, Illinois and spent 64 years together. She survives of Galesburg, Illinois.

He also was a devoted father.

Surviving are six daughters: Kathy Schwartz of Davenport, Iowa; Becky (Bill) Kisler of St. Charles, Missouri; Debbie (Pete) Anderson of Gerlaw, Illinois; Teresa (Gregg) Clay of Galesburg, Illinois; Mary Hilton of Knoxville, Illinois; Jean Lenz of Knoxville, Illinois. Three sons: Kris (Leiana) Hilton of Eureka, Illinois; Blaine Hilton of Knoxville, Illinois; and John (Janie) Hilton of Plainfield, Indiana.

He found great joy in spending time with his 20 Grandchildren and11 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Mark and one brother, Charles.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II serving aboard the USS Essex.
He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 20 years of service.
In his younger years he was a small plane pilot and enjoyed hunting. Later in life he enjoyed woodworking. .

He had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and enjoyed family trips.

Cremation Rites will be accorded. There will be Private Family Services. Inurnment will be at a later date at the East Linwood Cemetery, in Galesburg, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the FISH Pantry. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of Arrangements.
