|Enis "Jay" Hoyle, 92, of Galesburg, died at 10:43 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at his grandson's home.
Jay was born on December 28, 1918 in Fulton County, IL, the son of William and Lydia Hunnicutt Hoyle. He married Fern L. Asbury on February 16, 1946 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on September 6, 1989.
He is survived by a son, L. Michael Asher Hoyle of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Lelia (and Floyd) Shinn of Galesburg, Donna Hoyle Favorite of Greenbrier, Ark. and Jaylene (and Clyde) Boughton of Galesburg; 19 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Larry Hoyle of Bushnell, Ill. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter and five brothers and four grandchildren.
Jay started working construction for the Labor Union and retired as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union. Prior to working construction he drove a taxi. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and big band music. He was of the Methodist faith. Jay will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Dave Scholl will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to Local Carpenters Union or to Hospice Compassus.
