Lunden, Barbara E.
Barbara E. Linden, 94, formerly of 792 Swedenburg Rd., Knoxville, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior early Saturday morning, August 20, 2011 at Spring Creek Manor, American Falls, Idaho.

She was born May 19, 1917, the daughter of Titus G. and Edith Larson Engberg. She was preceded in death by her brother, Herman Engberg; her parents; husband, Clarence; sister, Jean Engberg; and two step-children, Eleanor Brimlow and David Lunden. She is survived by a step-daughter, Virginia (Jim) Greenway of Seattle, Wash., 12 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, cousins and friends, all of whom were very dear to her heart.

Barbara accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when still a child and was in fellowship all her life with a Christian Brethren Assembly in Knoxville. She graduated from Knoxville High School in 1934 and then attended University of Illinois. She taught for District 205, at Bateman and L.T. Stone Schools and also served as principal, until her marriage to Clarence in 1958. She enjoyed accompanying him on his evangelical mission trips and gospel efforts to Newfoundland, many areas of Canada and the United States. She was a faithful helpmeet and loved by all wherever they traveled. She kept up an enormous correspondence with family, friends and former students until she suffered a stroke November 2010.

She had a wonderful relationship with many of the residents and aides in the assisted living where she lived out her last few years, nearby to two of her granddaughters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Mr. Arthur Buchanan will be officiating her services. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Knoxville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bible Truth Publishers, P.O. Box 649, Addison, IL 60101, phone 630-543-1476, or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
