|Betty J. Wilson, 84, of Galesburg, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Betty was born on September 14, 1926, in Galesburg, the first child of Marion "Mac" and Erminie (Camper) McCone. She was married to George Earl Wilson in Galesburg, IL on February 28, 1941. Earl preceded her in death on February 10, 1989.
She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and later First United Methodist Church in Galesburg. In earlier years she worked as a bookkeeper at Wilson's Automotive and as a homemaker. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing bingo, and singing; she was also an avid reader.
Those left to celebrate her beautiful life include her children and spouses; daughter, Judy (Wilson) and David Temple of Milan, Ill. and son, George Earl "Bud" Wilson, Jr. of Colorado. Left to cherish the memory of their sister are Robert (Bev) McCone and Richard (Joyce) McCone, all of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She has been loved deeply and will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, and parents, Marion and Erminie.
Her family would like to thank Dr. McClean, Dr. Cheema, Dr. Enoch and the nurses and aides at Cottage Hospital for their compassionate and excellent care.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday August 25, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday August 26, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West followed by burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg. Rev. Norman Mendell will officiate.
