Kisler, Clyde L.
Clyde L. Kisler, age 83, of Abingdon, died at 11:34 am Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

He was born on December 7, 1927 in Mercer County, the son of Ralph and Anna (Leahigh) Kisler. He married Marjorie Jean Ganson in 1951 at Corpus Christie Catholic Church in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1972.

Clyde is survived by his children, Kristy (and Tomas Vargas) Kisler of Chicago, Mike Kisler of Abingdon and Cindy (and Allen) Newendyke of Batavia; four grandchildren, Mara (and James) Thomas, Erin Vargas, Ryan Newendyke and Alexis Newendyke; six great-grandchildren, Cielo Bernard, Melissa Mullins, Jake, Jon, Payton and Paxton Thomas; his siblings, Boyd Kisler, Kathryn (and Glenn) Tracy, Lyle (and Betty) Kisler, Richard (and Colleen) Kisler all of Galesburg; several nieces and nephews. Clydes extended family also consisted of his companion of many years, Beverly J. Christie, her children, John and Mary Christie and their loved ones.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Tonya Marie Redington, two brothers, Dean Kisler and Roy Kisler, as well as Bev Christies son, Jim.

He grew up in the Aledo area and graduated from Aledo High School. He later moved to Galesburg and worked as the manager at Bordens Dairy from 1951 to 1969. He was a partner in the Hi-Lo Grocery Store in Abingdon since 1969 and he had lived in Abingdon since 1973. His official retirement date was the day he died, as Clyde loved working and taking care of the store.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Abingdon. He enjoyed snowmobiling in Canada and Snorkeling in Aruba. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.

Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg. Monsignor Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a eulogy by Mrs. Eleanor Landon at 7:00 pm followed by the praying of the Rosary at 7:30 pm.

Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Food Pantry, Discovery Depot Childrens Museum or a charity of the donor's choice.
