Thompson, Robert E.
Robert E. Thompson, 77, of 1817 Bluebird Dr. Galesburg, Ill. died Wednesday August 22, 2012 at 11:55 PM at Marigold Health Care Center.

He was born October 15, 1934 in Galesburg, Ill. the son of Franklin D. and Luella M. Jacobs Thompson. He was raised by his step father Leo and mother Luella Gollehur. He married Donna C. Lundquist November 6, 1954 in Galesburg, Ill. she preceded him in death August 1, 2001 and later married Roberta "Bobbi" Hall-Bixby December 29, 2001 in Galesburg, Ill.

Robert is survived by his wife Bobbi, one daughter Linda and Roger Miles of Wataga, Ill., he was preceded in death by a son Michael E. Thompson on November 15, 1977. Surviving are two step sons Billy and Lisa Pedigo, TyRay and Julie Pedigo all of Galesburg, one step daughter Debra Ricco of Galesburg, three sisters Janet Christiansen and Wayne Leuchtenberg of Galesburg, Judy and Tom Adams of New Haven, Mo., and Nadine and Ted Pogue of Galesburg, two granddaughters Stacy and Jeff Hertz of Galva, and Christy and Kevin Stone of Wataga, two great grandsons, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, a beloved Aunt Nora Van Meter of Galesburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a half brother George Thompson.

He attended Galesburg High School and was a switchman-brakeman for Burlington-Northern Railroad from 1975-1992. He served in the National Guard and is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a past member of the Galesburg Masonic Lodge. He coached for Little League Baseball and was an official umpire for all sports in Galesburg. Robert loved traveling in his motor home, fishing, and bowling. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Cremation will be accorded with a Memorial service 6 PM Saturday August 25, 2012 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ron Scarlett officiating. Visitation will follow services until 8 PM. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial may be made to Roberta Thompson. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
