|Mildred "Midgie" Jefferson, age 90, of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Gilson, Illinois died at 3:15 A.M. on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born on March 30, 1922 in Maquon, Illinois the daughter of Ralph and Vanitta Reynolds Brush. She married Alvin Leo Jefferson on July 5, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death on
Also surviving are two daughters: Donna Matheny of Galesburg, Illinois, and Arlene (Robert) Bishop of Bloomington, Illinois. One son: Nicki (Vicki) Jefferson of Galesburg, Illinois. Eight grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
Four sisters: Darlene McCormick of Knoxville, Illinois; Elaine (Frank) Rice of Galesburg, Illinois; Jane Kinser of Burlington, Iowa; Barbara (Joe) Parmenter of Galesburg, Illinois. Two brothers: Ronald (Joan) Brush of Galesburg, Illinois and Wayne (Goldie) Brush of Galesburg, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, and one brother.
She worked as a cook for District 202 at the Knoxville and Gilson Schools. She had lived in Gilson until 1990 then moved to Knoxville. She enjoyed word puzzles.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at11:30 A.M. at the Gilson Cemetery, Gilson, Illinois. Jeff Jefferson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois.
