DeWolfe, Betty Carol
Betty Carol DeWolfe, 89, of Galva, formerly of Williamsfield, died Friday, August 9, 2013 at Courtyard Estates in Galva. Private funeral services were held. Rux Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born on May 19, 1924 in Astoria, IL, the daughter of Nicholas Keith and Inez (Jackson) Switzer. She married Kenneth DeWolfe on October 3, 1962 at the Chapel of the Bells in Reno, NV. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Switzer, a sister, Bonnie Huber and two grandchildren, Ashley Blust Cramer and John Lloyd Burns. She is survived by a son, Stephen L. (Debra) Blust of Normal, IL, two daughters, Donna J. (Donald) Secrist of DuQuoin, IL and Teresa L. (Patrick) Burns of Galesburg, IL, eight grandchildren, Jeff Secrist, Kimberly Mathis, Chad Secrist, Heather Blust, Buffy Blust, Patrick Burns Jr., Brienne Ericson and Christopher Burns and eleven great grandchildren, Austin, Abbey, Delaney, Jaden, Raven, Harlow, Saige, Kaide, Talyn, Reagan and Olivia.

She graduated from Williamsfield High School, attended Western Illinois University and then graduated from Bradley University. She taught school for 30 years in Knoxville, Williamsfield and Galva School Districts. She held memberships in the NRTA, NEA, IEA, GEA, the Abingdon Pottery Club and the Williamsfield Legion Auxiliary #371 where she was a past president. She had served as president of the Knox County Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40 member in Galesburg and member and chairman of the Galva retired Teachers. She was also a member and director of the Knox County Retired Teachers. She was involved with antique shops in Morton, Farmington, Galesburg and Bishop Hill until 2010.
