Hawks, Vera J.
Vera J. Tina Hawks, age 72, of Washington, Illinois died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at her home.

She was born on April 4, 1941 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of Thomas and Zoe McGill. She attended Galesburg Schools. She married William Bill D. Hawks on September 16, 1962 in Elmore, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2006.

Surviving are her daughters: Shelley (John) Miller of Washington, Illinois and Marla L. (Dennis) Troyer of Washington, Illinois; five grandchildren: Howard (Melody) Tisdale, Jr. of Pekin, Illinois; Jennifer (James) Egan of Edelstein, Illinois; Michelle (Mike) Eaton of Morton, Illinois; Tabatha Tisdale of Morton, Illinois; Kelley Miller of Peoria, Illinois; nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters: Nellie McGill Dunmire of Golden, Illinois; Richard (JoAnne) McGill of Texas; Melvin (JoAnne) McGill of Springfield, Illinois; Kenneth (Grace) McGill of Yorkshire, Illinois; Veryle (Pat) McGill of Berwyn, Illinois; Betty (Wayne) Smith of Golden, Illinois and Mary McGill of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Thomas McGill and Marvin McGill, brother-in-law Frank and sister-in-law Lucinda.

She attended the Elmore United Methodist Church in Elmore, Illinois. She enjoyed reading and watching old westerns. She was a member of TOPS in Sunnyland, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Elmore United Methodist Church in Elmore, Illinois. Rev. Norman Mendell officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 2, 2013 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois. Inurnment will be at a later date.
