Ernesta "Esther" Lindsay, 88, 1279 Bridge Ave., Galesburg, died at 2:10 PM Monday, September 7, 2009 in Marigold Health Care Center.
Ernesta was born February 14, 1921 in Marano Marchesato, Consenza Province, Calabria, Italy, the daughter of Eugenio and Carmella Guerrieri. She married James W. Lindsay on May 5, 1945 in St. Donatus Church in Blue Island, IL.
She was a homemaker, beloved wife, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her hobbies included flowers, gardening, and fishing. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Surviving are her husband, children, Edwin J. (and Stacie) Lindsay, Gene A. Lindsay, and Mary A. Baughman, all of Galesburg, grandchildren, Edwin J. (and Aaron) Lindsay, Lindsay (and William) Mitchell, and Blake A. Jones, great granddaughters, Alexia Lynn and Lily Marie Mitchell and Caitlin Rei Lindsay, a sister, Ida Esposito, and 2 sisters-in-law, Rosa and Pat Guerrieri. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and 2 brothers, Cesare and Emilio Guerrieri.
Funeral will be 10 AM Thursday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Msgr. Ernest Pizzamiglio will officiate. Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 PM Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
