|Dale L. Lithander, 82, of 1347 Bridge Ave. Galesburg died at 5:59 PM Tuesday September 8, 2009 at his home.
He was born November 13, 1927 in Galesburg the son of Carl and Augusta Lamberg Lithander. He married Margaret Schweighofer in Vienna Austria on August 2, 1948. She survives.
Dale is also survived by three sons Kim and Keith Lithander both of Boise, Idaho and Rev. Kirk Lithander of Dayton, Ohio, a son-in-law Gregg Witherell and ten grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kerry Witherell on November 24, 2007, a daughter-in-law Paula Lithander on August 5, 2009, two sisters and two brothers.
He served in the Army Reserves and retired from the Air Force with 33 years of service. He served during WWII, where he served 3 years in the Army of Occupation in Europe. He retired with the rank of Senior Master Sargeant.
He worked as a PBX repairman for Sprint Telephone Company for 35 years. He retired in 1987. He was a lifetime member of the Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285 and the V.F.W. Post #2257. Dale was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he served on the church board.
Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 12 at 10:00 am at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Paul Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be on Friday, September 11 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
