Lewis, James S.
James S. Lewis, age 66, of Galesburg, Illinois died at 9:40 P.M. on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was born on September 24, 1942 in Williamsfield, Illinois, the son of Dearld and Maida Stevens Lewis.

He married Sherie Hazen on August 16, 2002 in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives of Galesburg, Illinois.

Also surviving are daughter: Amy Menne of Pekin, Illinois.

Son: Jim (Angie) Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia.

Stepdaughters: Deanne (David) Cherrington of Galesburg, Illinois, Toni Raska of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Marsha Coyne of Milan, Illinois, Nikole (Jay) Murdock of Galesburg, Illinois, Tabatha (John) Tingley of Galesburg, Illinois.

Stepson: Charles Dillon, Jr of Galesburg, Illinois, Christopher Brazee of Galesburg, Illinois

Twenty grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Sisters: Barb Rider of Wataga, Illinois, Louise (Nick) Moore of Atkinson, Illinois, Dorothy (Melvin) Cowley of Rome, Illinois.

Preceded in death by his parents; one brother: John; and three sisters: Patsy, Shirley and Kathy.

He was raised and educated in Williamsfield, Illinois.

He worked as a painter for Kallister Painting in Peoria, Illinois for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades Local Union #157 of Peoria, Illinois.

He enjoyed taking care of his car and bike, especially riding his Harley.

He loved his dog.

Memorial Services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois with visitation one hour before the services. Rev. Randy Douglass officiating.

Inurnment will be held at a later date in Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois.
