|Rowena Ann Ginther, 70, of 244 Garfield Ave. Galesburg died at 7:05 AM Monday September 21, 2009 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born August 26, 1939 in Aledo, IL the daughter of Warren and Pauline Gilmore Mattson. She married Eugene Ginther on March 21, 1963 in the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; her brother Jerry (Connie) Mattson of Aledo; nephews Randy (Jennifer) Mattson of Aledo and Ron Mattson of Mobile, AL; great nephews Nick, Adam, Tyler and great nieces Kelsey, Sarah and one great great nephew Connor.
Rowena was a bio-chemist at the former Galesburg State Research Laboratory from 1961-1968. She later worked for JoAnn Fabrics in Galesburg. She was raised in Aledo and graduated from Aledo High School in 1957. She graduated from Iowa Wesleyan in 1961 with a degree in science. Rowena was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Senior Circle. She was a recipient of two kidney transplants one in 1996 and the other in 2004. She has kept in touch with the two living donors. Rowena enjoyed sewing and made many things for friends and family. She was a former Regent of DAR and was a member of the Knox County Genealogical Society. She was a member of the Knox County Home Extension.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday September 24, 2009 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Sarah Parker will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
