|Glenn R. McVey, 59, of Galesburg, died at 11:06 PM Sunday, September 27, 2009 in the emergency room at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born August 17, 1950 in Galesburg, the son of Alvin R. and Lola M. Brown McVey.
He is survived by his mother, Lola of Galesburg, 2 brothers, Jerry (and Lynn) McVey of Burlington, IA and Robert (and Krystina) McVey of Park Ridge, IL, a sister, Debra (and Randy) Wilson of Galesburg, 3 nephews, and 6 nieces. He was preceded in death by his father.
Glenn was a driver for Renzenberger Railroad Transport Service. He had previously worked as a rail detector operator for Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He was raised in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School in 1968. Glenn was a member of the first graduating class from Carl Sandburg College in 1970. He attended the University of Illinois.
He enjoyed working with computers and also electronics. He had built a television that his mother used for many years. He enjoyed attending ham fests. Glenn was an avid bicyclist and had ridden one as his primary source of transportation for 20 years.
Funeral will be 10 AM Thursday, October 1, 2009 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service.
