Larry G. Henderson, 66, of Alexis, died at 12:32 AM Tuesday, September 29, 2009 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born February 10, 1943 in Galesburg, the son of Gerald S. and Eleanor C. Shinn Henderson. He married Linda A. Joyce in February 25, 1964 in Knoxville.
He is survived by his wife, 5 children, Judy (and Delbert) Curtis of Knoxville, IL, Tammy (and William) Henderson of Alexis, Phyllis (and J.C.) Henderson of Wapello, IA, Jerry (and Karen) Henderson of Armington, IL, and Patti (and Jeff) Callihan of Cameron, IL, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 4 sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry worked with cattle and livestock his whole life. He also worked as a lead man at Maytag for 31 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the I.A.M.A.W. Larry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying taking the family fishing, coon hunting, mushroom hunting, attended bull rides, and family cookouts. He was especially fond of horses and received his 20 year trail riding belt buckle in 2008. He and Linda had been 4-H leaders.
Funeral will be 10 AM Friday, October 2, 2009 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Phyllis Sterr will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the chapel.
