Orterry, Nelson E.
Nelson E. "Ed" Orterry, 88, of Lake Warren, died Tuesday morning, September 7, 2010, at his home.

He was born April 14, 1922 in Henderson County, Rozetta Twp. Illinois the son of William T. and Maggie M. (Cramer) Orterry. He was raise d and educated in Henderson Co attending Hazel Dell School, Rozetta Center School and Biggsville High School.

Ed serviced with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II from 1942-1945.

Ed married Annabelle Wixforth on Oct. 26, 1942 and she died Sept 14, 1987. He later married Elizabeth Terpening at the Little Brown Church in Iowa on Feb. 12, 1992 and she survives.

Ed worked at Nichols Hatchery for a few years. He later worked as a car mechanic for over 30 years beginning at Barrows Addleman Car Dealership and then Ray Green until 1977. He later owned and operated E & B Auto Repair in Monmouth with Bud Ross until he retired in 1989.

He enjoyed camping, boating, square dancing and wintering in Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Orterry of Lake Warren; son, Nelson E. (Cora) Orterry Jr. of Panama City, FL; granddaughter, Darlene Orterry of Michigan; step children, Debra (Jim) Darrah of Little York, Sandra Morrison of Lena, IL; 6 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, step grandson and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Sept 11, 2010 at the Countryside Bible Church with Rev. Ken Muck officiating. Cremation will take place following the services with a private burial of ashes at Warren County Memorial Park at a later date. Friends may call Friday Sept, 10, 2010 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth where his family will be present from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the Countryside Bible Church or the Cornerstone Christian Academy.
