Lew Steve Miller Jr,93, of Alexis died at 12:35 A.M. Wed, September 22, 2010 at the Monmouth Nursing Home, Monmouth.

He was born July 25, 1917 in Alexis, Illinois the son Lew S. and Orpha (McClelland) Miller Sr. He was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1935. He later attended the University of Illinois.

Steve married Jean Sperry in Kansas City, MO. on March 23, 1942 and she died Nov. 14, 2006. Steve served with the United States Army 112th Calvary during World War II. Steve farmed near Alexis for 50 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Norwood Presbyterian Church, the James Harvey Scott American Legion Post #189 in Alexis, where he served many years on the Honor Guard and the Aledo VFW Post #1571. He was very active in the Alexis Progress Show. Steve was an avid Alexis sports fan, especially football and track. He also enjoyed attending the events of his grandchildren.

Surviving are his son, David Miller of Alexis; two daughters, Sandra Brooks of Alexis and Diane (Nathan) Hageman of Janesville, WI; 4 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 4 great granddaughter, 2great grandson and 2 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Sat. Sept. 25, 2010 at the Norwood Presbyterian Church with Rev. Agnes Brady officiating. Burial with Military Honors by the James Harvey Scott American Legion Post #189 will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 after 3:00 P.M. at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where his family will be present from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Memorials maybe given to the Norwood Presbyterian Church, Monmouth Nursing Home or Hospice Compassus. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com
