Heberling, Virginia Dahlberg
Virginia Dahlberg Heberling, age 95, of Galesburg, Illinois formerly of Moline, Illinois passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 7:00 A.M. at Woodridge Assisted Living in Galesburg, Illinois.

She was born February 22, 1915 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Vic and Alice Winfree Carlson. She married Howard E. Dahlberg on April 9, 1938 in Rock Island, Illinois. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1991. She married Darrell Heberling on August 27, 1997 in Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death in December 2008.

She leaves a son, Marv (Nancy) Dahlberg of Galesburg, Illinois; a daughter, Nancy (Gary) Walby of Destin, Florida; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Carlson and her sister, Olive Pollock.
Virginia was very active in many Quad Cities civic organizations including the Symphony; Kings Daughters; PEO Chapter BL (a 40 yr member); the Rock Island County Historical Society where she served as the first woman President and spent much of her time raising funds to build the library addition; several bridge clubs; and a lifetime member of Short Hills Country Club. Virginia had a beautiful singing voice and performed in many Quad City area stage and musical productions.

She was active in Illinois politics, serving as chairwoman of the Rock Island County Republican Party for several years and she also served as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.

A Celebration of Virginia's Life will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. in the Library at the Rock Island County Historical Society Home, 822-11th Avenue, Moline, Illinois 61265. Memorials in the name of Virginia may be made to the Rock Island County Historical Society or the United Way of Knox County and may be sent to Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home, 120 S Public Square, Knoxville, Illinois 61448. Hurd Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of arrangements.
