|Vernita J. Crayton, age 50, of Kewanee, Illinois, died on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 1:00 A.M. at her residence in Kewanee, Illinois. She was born on July 23, 1960 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Donal and Norma Gregory, Sr. She married Lawrence Crayton in November 2000 in Belleville, Illinois. He survives of Kewanee, Illinois.
Also surviving are daughters, Gena (Leonard Ingle) Bigham of Kewanee, Illinois, Christine (John) Ford of Kewanee, Illinois, Rachel (Rich) Aldrich of Kewanee, Illinois, Renee (Bill) Micka of Springfield, Missouri and Alicia Meeks of Kewanee, Illinois; son, Edward Meeks of Canyon Lake, Texas; twelve grandchildren; her mother, Norma Wilson of Arvada, Colorado; seven brothers and two sisters. She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
She worked as a cashier at Wal-Mart in Kewanee, Illinois and owned Swansea Pastry Shop in Swansea, Illinois for over 10 years. She loved to bake.
Cremation Rites will be accorded.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 6:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Kewanee, Illinois with Visitation beginning at 5:00 P.M. Rev. Tony Allen officiating. Fellowship will be held after the services in the lower level of the church. Memorials may be made to the Family. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois in charge of arrangements.
