Eugenia C. "Jean" Barrowman, 91, of Galesburg died at 6:30 a.m. Monday September 27, 2010 at her home.
She was born October 3, 1918 in Yates City, IL, the daughter of Jay and Edith Chamberlain McLaughlin. She married Edward W. Barrowman on August 31, 1938 in Bettendorf, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1989.
She is survived by a son, Larry E. (Carla) Barrowman of The Villages, Fla.; a daughter, Mary (Paul) DuVal of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; three grandchildren, Scot (Lana) DuVal, Darin DuVal and Deanna (Al) Veitengruber; one great granddaughter, one great great grandson; her companion, dog and friend 'Chico" and very dear friends Bob and Rose Chase, Rita Hier and Mabel Harper. She is preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and a grandson, Todd DuVal.
Jean worked for the Club 19. She graduated from Yates City High school. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church and the OAKS Seniors.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Marilyn Anell will officiate. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Hospice Compassus or to the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. |
