Bohan, Barbara Ann
Barbara Ann Bohan, 70, of Alexis died at 4:20 P.M. Sat., September 4, 2010, at the Heartland Health Care Center in Galesburg.

She was born Jan, 17, 1940 in Chicago, IL. the daughter of Dr. John E. and Mina Rae (Morford) Bohan. She was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1958 and the University of Oklahoma in 1962.

Barbara was a teacher in New Mexico for 2 years and in Michigan for 2 years before coming home to Alexis where she taught, coached and was the librarian at Alexis High School and later United High School. She retired from teaching in 2006 after 44 years. She continued to coach cross country and track until the spring of 2010.

She was a rabid and lifelong Iowa Hawkeye fan. She also enjoyed boating and playing softball.

Barbara was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Alexis, the Altar & Rosary Society and the Alexis P.E.O. Chapter G.

Survivors include her 3 sisters, Frances (William) Tracewell of Dallas , TX, Elizabeth (James) Romero of Norman, OK and Mary Lindley of Alexis; 13 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; 1 sister in law, Linda Bohan of Springfield, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Bohan.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 10, 2010 at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Alexis with Fr. Dennis Spohrer celebrating. Cremation will take place following the mass. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be at a later date. Friends may call Thursday, September, 9, 2010 after 3:00 P.M. at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where her family will be present from 5:00-8:00 P.M. with a Rosary service beginning at 5:00 P.M. Memorials may be given to the United School District Education Foundation. Online condolences may be left at hooverhall.com
