Richard E. Riley, 55, of 19 E. Tompkins St., Galesburg, died at 7:32 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born August 5, 1956 in Galesburg the son of Robert K. and Norma L. Ebany Riley.
He is survived by his father, Robert of Hampton, Ill.; four siblings, Roberta K. McClain of Altamont Springs, Fla., Robert Kenneth Riley, Jr. of Deltona, Fla., Ray A. Riley of Hampton, and Russ Riley of Deltona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother.
Richard worked for AT&T as a traveling repairman for many years before becoming disabled in a car crash in 1989. He graduated from Galesburg High School. Richard loved sports, especially baseball and pool. He had an extensive collection of sports memorabilia.
Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Dr. Tom Larsen will officiate. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation for spinal cord injury research.
