|David R. "Bob" Linroth, 87, of 1111 Jefferson St., Galesburg, Ill. died at 5:14 AM Saturday, September 3, 2011 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born on January 13, 1924 in Galesburg to Albert and Mary Wingfield Linroth. He married Helen Brown in Galesburg on October 22, 1960. She preceded him in death on April 26, 1993. He then married Marjorie Formhals Stegall in Galesburg on May 11, 1996. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2007.
He is survived by a step-son, Ralph (and Joyce) Linroth of Dahinda, Ill.; a step-daughter, Mary Erwin of Dekalb, Ill.; three step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step son-in-law, a step-grandson and a brother.
Bob was an airline mechanic for Currey Flying Service for six years; he worked as a carpenter with his father for 12 years and was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 23 years. He retired in 1984.
He served in the US Air Force from 1945-1946.
He was a 1942 graduate of Galesburg High School. He attended the East Main Congregational Church. He loved to fly.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM on Wednesday September 7, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Robin Faull officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ralph M. Noble Post #285. Memorials may be made to the Airpower Museum in Blakesburg, Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
