|Ellen Jean Adkisson, 88, of Roseville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 3 P.M. in Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Jean was born February 9, 1923 at Culbertson Hospital in Rushville, Illinois, the daughter of Guy H. and Esther (Campbell) Miller. She married Philip M. Adkisson October 22, 1950 at the Miller family home in Rushville. He preceded her on January 30, 1998.
She attended elementary school in Rushville and graduated from Rushville High School in 1940. She received a BA degree from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois in 1945. Following college, Jean resided in Chicago for 3 years, where she was employed as a registered dietitian for the restaurant department at Marshall Field & Company. She returned to Rushville to work with her father at Rushville State Bank until her marriage and subsequent move to Roseville. She maintained a lifelong affiliation with the bank and was a partner with her son in the family farm.
Jean was a member of Roseville Christian Church for 61 years, Chapter N of P.E.O. for 60 years, W.S.C.S. Club and the Science and Art Club.
She is survived by one son, Van M. (and Mary Kay) Adkisson of Roseville, one daughter, Cynthia Adkisson of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; Four grandchildren: Heather M. (and Jeff) Gregory of Alexis; Eric J. (and Lisa) Adkisson of Havelock, NC; Kevin D. (and Tawnya) Adkisson of Clermont FL; Christopher D. Adkisson of San Tan Valley, AZ.; Nine great-grandchildren: Vada and Max Gregory; Vanessa Adkisson; Allyssa and Kristen Adkisson; Tre', Lauren, Sommer and Kali Adkisson; and two great-grandchildren expected in coming months. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and two brother-in-laws, Richard (Wilma) Schenk of Rushville and Robert Adkisson of rural Roseville. She was preceded by her parents, husband, three sisters, Margaret Corman, Patricia Schenk and Esther Joan Miller, in infancy; and one nephew, Victor Corman.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Roseville Christian Church. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Corman Memorial Home in Roseville.
