|Bonnie J. Chandler, 91, of Dahinda, Ill. died at 1:58 p.m. Monday September 19, 2011 at her home.
She was born September 12, 1920 in Dahinda, the daughter of Fred and Bessie Hopkins Farquer. She married Cliff Cowley on March 20, 1939 in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1971. She then married J. Bradley Chandler on August 3, 1975 in Galesburg, Ill. He preceded her in death on June 7, 2001.
She is survived by a son, Michael Cowley (and his partner Ritchie Dykeman) of London Mills, Ill.; her daughter, Lynne (Henry) Witz of Southaven, Miss.; two grandchildren, Amy (Joe) Hatch of Victoria, Ill. and Richard Carlson of Princeton, N.J. and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a brother and a sister.
She and her husband, Cliff, owned and operated the Theatre and Restaurant in Washburn, Ill. She also worked in accounts payable for Knox County Nursing Home from 1972-2004. She graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1938. She also attended Cresent Hall Business College in Peoria, Ill. She was a member of the Community of Christ (formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints).
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2011 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Carol Carpenter will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center and the Community of Christ Church.
