Crocker, Doris M.
Doris Marie Vera Shepard Crocker, 81, of rural Knoxville died at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2011 at home with her daughters at her side.

She was born January 14, 1930 in Knox County the daughter of Edward Jacob and Amy Caroline Swanson Hanson. She married Floyd Shepard. She later married Frank E. Crocker.

She is survived by four daughters, Stefanie (and Bryan) Eklund of rural Knoxville, Sherilee (and Greg Endthoff) Shepard of Wis., Shelley Shepard of Ariz., and Robin (and Kevin) Spaeth of Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold Hanson and Paul Hanson; and a sister, Ruth Maltby.

Doris was raised and educated in the Knoxville area, graduating from Knoxville High School in 1948. She attended Browns Business College. She traveled extensively with her career as an executive secretary and received many rewards for her exceptional service in the United States Air Force. Her last position of service was at the Pentagon.
Doris loved spending time reading, dancing and enjoying her life with her daughters and their families.

Doris was a former member of First Lutheran Church. She was a volunteer at Galesburg Cottage Hospital and Cottage Corner for many years.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 in The Oaks Community Church, Dahinda, Ill. Rev. Marty Briney will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to ALS Foundation or Hospice Compassus. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service of Galesburg is in charge of arrangements.
