Lois E. Mead, 81, of Galesburg, Ill. died 3:53 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Lois was born December 28, 1929 in Chicago, Ill. to Eskill and Vera Winchell Gullstrand. She married Robert G. Mead on October 31, 1954 in Galesburg. He preceded her in death February 5, 2011.
She is survived by a son, Douglas W. Mead of Port Hueneme, Calif.; a daughter, Jennifer (and Tom) Hoben of Knoxville, Ill. and two grandchildren, Justin Hoben of Knoxville, Ill. and Robert Knuth of Chicago, Ill. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a son, Robert Mead.
Lois moved to Galesburg at an early age and graduated from Galesburg High School in 1947. She worked 14 years as a teller for the Bank of Galesburg. Lois was a homemaker who loved her family dearly.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg. Rev James Ecklund will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Children’s Milk Fund c/o Moon Towers, 255 W. Tompkins St. Galesburg, National Leukemia/Lymphoma Society or Arthritis Foundation.
