|Eric Wayne Gray, 63, of Galesburg, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Marigold Health Care Center.
He was born January 25, 1948 in Galesburg, the son of Melvin and Doris Marie Curtis Gray. He married Marjorie E. Terpening on January 13, 1968 in Coldbrook Christian Church.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew E. (and Amy) Gray of North Aurora, Ill. and Shawn A. (and Julie) Gray of rural Alexis, Ill.; a daughter, Christine M. Riggs of Galesburg; 11 grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, and Jared Riggs, Jacob, Abigail, Jackson, and William Gray, Danielle Hunter, and Breanna, Chloe, and Clay Gray; a great grandchild, Brylee Elliott; and a brother, Gary Gray of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terry Gray.
Eric was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 22 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1966. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, and Notre Dame Football.
Eric served in the United States Army for 3 years during Vietnam as a sergeant with the Military Police.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. James Ecklund will officiate. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with military rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association.
