|Paul W. Morris, 96, formerly of Knoxville, Illinois, died at 12:30 AM, on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
He is survived by sons John R (Sally) Morris of Jonesboro, Arkansas, P. David Morris of New York, New York, as well as four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, son in law John Beebe of Canton, two step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; his daughter Dianne Beebe; five brothers; and two sisters.
He was born on August 18, 1915, to Alfred C. and Effie H. (Goff) Morris in Bald Bluff Township near Oquawka. He attended Bald Bluff Schools. He served in the United States Army in France during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Knoxville. On February 8, 1940 he married Mary Margaret Lantz in Burlington, Iowa. They were married sixty-nine years, when she died in 2009. They owned businesses in Knoxville, were avid antiques collectors, and did Scenic Drive sales for many years.
Graveside Services will be at the Knoxville Cemetery, on Monday, October 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Martha Jean Fitch will be officiating. There will be no visitation. Folowing the service at the cemetery, there will be a luncheon at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission and the Women's Shelter. The Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home is handling local arrangements.
