Nelson, Eileen H.
Eileen H. Nelson, 87, of Galesburg, died at 11:25 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in Seminary Manor.

She was born November 22, 1924 in Galesburg, the daughter of the late Crescent Edward Worden and Victoria L. Worden (n. Swanson). She married Francis C. Nelson on April 12, 1947 in Galesburg. They commemorated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2012.

Eileen was the loving mother of twins, Karen (James) Lloyd of Elm Grove, Wis. and Sharon (David) Kuhn of Deerfield, Ill. She was the precious grandmother of Evan (Christina) Lloyd of Bel Air, Md., Emma Lloyd of Elm Grove, Wis., Elizabeth Kuhn of Astoria, N.Y., and Patrick Kuhn of Deerfield, Ill. She was the dear sister of C. Edward (Doris) Worden Jr., Joan (and the late Lee) Webber, and Thomas (Judy) Worden. Her husband Francis passed away Wednesday June 27, 2012. She is survived by many loving family members and friends.

Eileen graduated from Galesburg High School in 1942 and worked at the Illinois Camera Shop for over 10 years. She spent a year and a half in the Panama Canal Zone with her husband during the Korean War. An avid golfer, Eileen played for many years in both ladies leagues at Bunker Links Golf Course, scored a hole in one in 1991, and played her last round at Pebble Beach in Calif. in 2005. She also bowled in a senior league at Northgate Lanes with Francis. Eileen enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a lifetime active member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church and prepared salads for many funeral receptions. She will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 273 S. Prairie St., Galesburg. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Galesburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. A reception in the parish hall will follow the burial. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
