Naslund, Marjorie Ann Brenneman
Marjorie Ann Brenneman Naslund, 89, formerly of Dahinda, Ill. died Monday, August 20, 2012 in Johnston City, NY. She was born September 6, 1922 in Huntington, Ind. the daughter of Harold and Wilma Hazel Ellison Brenneman. She married Howard Naslund on August 18, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1989.

She is survived by her children: Natalie (and Art) Hanson, Howard "Dick" (and Cheryl) Naslund, and Deborah (and husband Randy Acker) Naslund; her grandchildren: Amy and Erik Hanson and Kathryn Morell, Sterling, Skye, Neelam, Kalindi, and Cambria Naslund, Erin and Jay Acker, and her great grandchild, Jade Morell. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Leota Rendleman, numerous nieces and nephews and their extended families, by a special granddaughter Melanie (and Dean) Zioze, and their family, and by many friends and bridge partners. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her dear brother (her 2nd birthday present), Bruce Brenneman, numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, one nephew, and a grandson, Nicholas.

Marjorie grew up in Urbana, Ill. and attended the University of Illinois where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree. During WWII she worked as an engineering assistant helping with the design work on jet engines for Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Conn. while her fiancé was in Europe with General Pattons 3rd Army. After brief stops in Erie, Pa, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Fort Wayne, Ind., they lived in Normal, Ill., and Dundee, Ill., before retiring in 1985 to a home at Oak Run, on Spoon Lake in Dahinda, Ill. where Marjorie lived until 2005 when she moved to Johnson City, NY. After working as a homemaker and volunteer for many causes while her children were young, she was a teachers aide and librarian for the Dundee School System. She continued as a frequent volunteer until just before her death. She died after a brief illness, still sound of mind, calm, and at peace, with her children at her side. Even in death she provided us with a lesson in strength and courage, and was more concerned with others than herself.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Victoria Cemetery, Victoria, Ill. Rev. Marty Briney will officiate. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Broome-Tioga Special Olympics c/o John Crosby, 9 Londonderry Lane, Owego, NY 13827. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
