|Alice Dera "Mommer" Hinton, 96, of Kirkwood, Ill., died 11:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at OSF Holy Family Medical Center in Monmouth, Ill.
Born March 4, 1916, in Fort Cobb, Okla., she was the daughter of Lucien E. and Cora Avis Flannagan Risk. On Jan. 26, 1935, she married Curtis Aldwin Hinton in Monticello, Mo. He died April 17, 1990.
Mrs. Hinton was raised and educated in Oklahoma and Missouri. She was a homemaker.
She loved her Lord and family and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Kirkwood Westminster Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Survivors include five daughters, Alice Joan Williams and Geneva Jane Marcase, both of Kirkwood, Avis Sue Hinton of Newcastle, Wyo., Fay Fowler of New London and Rebecca Dera Paternoster of Battle Creek, Mich.; two sons, Luchien Hinton and George Hinton, both of Kirkwood; 27 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Marion Risk of Toledo, Ohio; three sisters, Elizabeth Upp of Keokuk, June Green of Longview, Texas, and Nila Tyrrell of Salem, Ore.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, three brothers, one sister in infancy, two granddaughters, one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel in Monmouth, where family will be present.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hinton will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Pam Moore officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery in Kirkwood.
A memorial has been established for Kirkwood Westminster Presbyterian Church.
