Jones, Monte Dean
Monte Dean Jones, age 86, of Knoxville, Illinois died at 7:55 A.M. on Friday, September 27, 2013 at his home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on March 13, 1927 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of Reck and Cora Belle Staggs Jones. He attended and graduated from Galesburg High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946, Stationed at Eniwetok on the Marshall Islands. He married Kathryn Katie Jones on May 9, 1948 in in Galesburg, Illinois.
She survives of Knoxville, Illinois.

Also surviving are his children: Linda (Troy) Lee of Villa Rica, Georgia; Monica (Larry) Clevenger of Knoxville, Illinois; Debra (Kenny) Davis of New Windsor, New York; Sandra (Tim) Jones of Knoxville, Illinois. Eight grandchildren: Derrick (Laura) Lee; Josh Smith; Chad Clevenger; Lucas (Veda) Johnson; Lindsay Johnson; Keegan Jones; Haley Jones; Tessa Jones; and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Monte Duane; one brother, Virgil; one sister, Goldie; and one great grandson, Trenton.

He worked for the former Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg, Illinois for over forty years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Knoxville, Illinois and the Western Illinois Antique Auto Club. He enjoyed carpentry, painting, and his antique car. He was a handyman with ingenuity and talent. He loved to work in his yard, his garden, and most of all being with his family.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes in Knoxville, Illinois, with Rev. Dan Lybarger officiating. Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home Fellowship Center in Knoxville, Illinois. Inurnment will be in the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church or to the Beacon of Hope Hospice.
