Liby, Robert Duncan
Robert Duncan Liby, 81, of Galesburg died at 6:37 am Sunday, September 29, 2013 in Cottage Hospital.

He was born November 21, 1931 in Biggsville, Ill. the son of William G. and Lois G. Duncan Liby. He married Elizabeth A. Peake on July 30, 1955 in Alexis, Ill. She preceded him in death on November 21, 1996.

He is survived by three sons, David (Michelle) Liby of Columbia, Md., Billy (Denise) Liby of Denver, Colo., and P.J. (Breeze) Liby of Davenport, Iowa; two daughters, Peggy Polillo of Knoxville, Ill. and Pam (Mike) Davis of Galesburg; his brother, Richard Liby of Biggsville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Ashley Liby, Amy Polillo, Robbie Polillo, Jamie Davis, Teresa Liby, Andrea Liby and Nolan Liby; four great grandchildren, Tomas Liby, Kaden Davis, Isabella Polillo and Liam Polillo and his dear friend Pat Cratty. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, William and Jack Liby, his sister, Sandra DuBose and his son-in-law, Terry Polillo.

Robert served in the US Army for two years at West Point Military Academy as a Cadet.
He worked for OMC Gale Products for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. Following retirement he worked for NAEIR and East Main Hy-Vee. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1949. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Rev. William Miller will officiate. Visitation will be 6-7:30 pm with Rosary at 7:30 pm, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com.
