Lyle D. "Shorty" Willett, age 82 of Alpha, IL died Saturday October 3, 2009 in his home.
Services are 10:30 AM Tuesday at the Alpha Methodist Church. Burial is in the Alpha Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-8 PM Monday at the Church, where memorials may be left to the Alpha Cemetery or the Alpha Methodist Church. He was born August 23, 1927 in Rural Alexis a son of Floyd and Ellen Johnson Willett. He graduated from Alexis High School in 1945 and married Betty G. Lundquist April 16, 1949 in Cambridge.
Shorty farmed in the Alexis, North Henderson and Galesburg areas. He retired in 1989 from MoorMan's Manufacturing.
His memberships include the United Methodist Church in Alpha where he was active on various committees and he enjoyed playing cards and games, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; 3 daughters, Terry (Steve) Brooks of New Windsor; Mindy (Kevin) Poppy of Lynn Center; Wendy (Jim) Swanson of Alpha; a son, Barry (Anna) Willett of Orion; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and one lovingly expected; 1 step-grandchild; 2 brothers, Floyd "Buzz" Willett of Galesburg and Keith (Mary) Willett of Oneida.
His parents preceded him in death. |
