|Charlotte Lindbeck Hopping, age 82, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born February 3, 1928 in Wataga, Ill., the only child of Edward and May Tullgren Lindbeck.
She is survived by one daughter, Janet Leahy Gilmer of Fayetteville, two sons, Jeffrey Leahy of Venice, Calif. and Jim Leahy and his wife Donna of Panama, five grandchildren, Brenda Leahy of Austin, Texas, Aaron Gilmer of Fayetteville, Ark., Mairead Leahy of Springdale, Ark., and Dr. J.B. and Rachel Blankenship of Fayetteville, Ark., and three great grandchildren, Blair, Holden and Griffin Blankenship. Charlotte cared deeply for and was devoted to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
She was a Teamsters Union member and in her earlier career worked for CB&Q Truck Lines in Galesburg, Ill. She and her husband, John, moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1991 to be near family. Until two years ago, the Hoppings were owners/operators of Gallery of Champion Cards in Fiesta Square, where many knew her as "Miss Becky." She was known for her big smile, her creativity and unique artistic abilities. Just recently, she garnered statewide recognition for her landscape painting when her artwork was selected for the Arkansas Health Care Association and Foundation Calendar.
Visitation will be at noon Friday, October 8, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Deacon James Haneghan officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Charlotte was grateful (as are we) for the kindness and care given to her at North Hills Lifecare and Rehabilitation. She also appreciated her Meals on Wheels volunteers and it was her wish that any memorials given in her honor would go to Meals on Wheels, 945 S. College Avenue, Fayetteville, Ark. 72701.
