Bycroft, Roy
Roy Bycroft, 84, of Roseville, IL, passed from this life on Monday October 4, 2010, 5:45 pm at the Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center. He was born September 4, 1926, in Pt. Pleasant Township, Warren County, IL, the youngest child of William Leroy and Emma B. Garvin Bycroft. He married Ima Jean Smith on January 31, 1948 in Monmouth, IL.

He is survived by his wife; daughter Gloria (Marty) Thurman of Avon, IL; grandsons Lance (Margaret) and Jared (Alison) Thurman and their children Whitney, Chase, Abbigail, Kale, Emma, Nora, and Maya. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Eloise Lowderman, Erma Lewis, Gaila Parsons, and brother Vance (Betty) Smith; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents, siblings (Dale Bycroft, Laura Bowles, Mary Marie Stephenson), son (R. Lynn Bycroft), granddaughter (Erin Thurman).

Roy was educated at Wagy School. As a young man, Roy began farming. He had a special companion , his dog, Ted. Roy and his wife farmed southwest of Roseville during Roy's farming years he also drove a lime truck for Casey Evans, operated a corn sheller with Leo Mowen and served as a clerk for Van Adkisson Auction Service. He was active in Township government and enjoyed team bowling. Roy was a member of the Roseville Christian Church and served as deacon and on building and grounds. He loved his farm, family, and a practical joke. He preferred to look at the bright side of life.

Funeral service will be Monday, October 11, 2010, 10:30 am at the Roseville Christian Church. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday October 10, 2010, 5:30-8:00 pm at the Corman Memorial Home Roseville, IL. Memorials may be made to the Roseville Christian Church, Monmouth-Roseville FFA, or Roseville Rehab and Health Care Center. Please sign the guestbook at www.cormanmh.com.
