Billeter, Carl L.
Carl L. Billeter, 68, 986 W. North St., Galesburg, passed away peacefully at 7:45 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2010 at his home.

He was born July 4, 1942 in Macomb, Ill., the son of Otto and Ruth Laughlin Billeter. He married Phyllis Ann DeFord on September 8, 1962 in Macomb.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, two sons, Troy (and Terri) Billeter of Gilson, Ill. and Scott (and Tanya Hagerty) Billeter of Galesburg, a daughter, Michelle Billeter of Peoria, Ill., four grandchildren, Tasha Mills of Peoria, Travis Billeter, serving the United States Military in Egypt, Matt Billeter of Macomb, and Abbie Billeter of Galesburg, a great granddaughter, Allison Mills, a brother, Keith Billeter of the state of Oregon, a sister, Irene Billeter of Macomb, his mother-in-law, Jean Simmons of Macomb, and two sisters-in-law, Jan (and Ron) Scott and Joyce Bilbrey, both of Macomb. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harland Billeter and Harold Billeter.

He graduated in 1960 from Western High School in Macomb and from the Iowa Institute of Telegraphy.

Carl first worked for the former C.B. & Q. Railroad as a telegraph operator. He later worked for Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corporation for 18 years and then for NAEIR as the supervisor of shipping for 18 years. He retired in 2009.

Carl enjoyed music and traveling, as well as, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Rev. Roy Runkle will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Private family burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Humane Society. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
