|Mr. Gero L. Hoskins, 73, of 1122 W. North St., Galesburg, Ill. died at 3:00 a.m., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his home.
He was born on December 5, 1936 in Monmouth, Ill. to Creighton and Margaret Lee Hoskins. He married Sue A. Mead on October 16, 1956 in Galesburg.
Gero is survived by his wife, Sue A. Hoskins of Galesburg; two sons, Alan Hoskins of Monmouth and Creighton Hoskins of Galesburg; a daughter, Debra (and Bob) Adkisson of Roseville, Ill.; two sisters, Alice Sanford and Bonnie McFarland, both of Galesburg; five grandchildren, Carol (and John) Lamb, Bobbi Jo Adkisson, Creighton Hoskins, Jr., Safiaya Hoskins and Joe Hoskins; and five great-grandchildren, Gero Lewis, Kendra Lamb, Michael Quinn, Kayla Quinn and Shyenne Quinn.
Gero worked for 45 years for the Canada Dry Bottler and D & B Distributors, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and the Izaak Walton Conservation Club and Campground. He enjoyed fishing, arrowhead hunting and collecting, hunting, camping, woodworking and collecting John Deere memorabilia. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Peter Wehrly officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice Compassus, Faith United Methodist Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
