|James C. "Jim" Lyons, age 74, of Galesburg, Illinois, died on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 8:50 AM at his residence in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on September 25, 1936 in Bartonville, Illinois, the son of George T. and Wilma Mae Mesecher Lyons.
He married Eleanor Peddicord on October 6, 2006 at their residence in Galesburg, Illinois. She survives of Galesburg, Illinois.
Two Daughters: Lucy (Chris) Anderson of Monmouth, Illinois, Lorali Serven of Princeville, Illinois; One Son: Robert (Dawn) Peddicord of Dallas, Texas; Eleven Grandchildren and One Great Grandson; One Sister: Sue Tracy of Oquawka, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Charles Lyons.
He was raised and educated in Dallas City, Illinois.
He entered the United States Navy on March 14, 1957 in Burlington, Iowa and served for 16 years as a Machinist Mate, retiring on June 28, 1973 from Norfolk, Virginia. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He enjoyed gardening around his home.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois with Military Rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post # 246 of Moline, Illinois.
Friends and Relatives may call at his home, 80 West Mary Street, Galesburg, Illinois on Wednesday, 20, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Family.
