Rehn, Dr. J. Wayne
Dr. J. Wayne Rehn, 74, of Alpha, IL, died Sunday October 9, 2011 at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, IL. Cremation has been accorded and a Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday October 11, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull, IL. Burial will be in the Andover Cemetery where military services will be conducted. Visitation is Monday (this evening) from 4-8 PM at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha where memorials may be left to Bethany Lutheran Church, University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine Scholarship fund, Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy or to a favorite charity. He was born June 26, 1937 in Moline, IL to J. Raymond and Mabel Peterson Rehn. He attended the Osco School, graduated from Orion High School and graduated from the University of Illinois where he received his B.S. and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1963. On June 22, 1963 he was united in marriage to F. Jean Farnham in Stockton, CA.

Wayne practiced Veterinary Medicine for 30 years in Geneseo and Alpha, IL. He served 12 years as CEO of the AVMA Professional Liability Insurance Trust in Chicago, IL.

He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Woodhull and served on the Cottage Hospital Board of Directors. He served as a board member of the Woodhull Land Development Assoc, the former Woodhull State Bank and the former Farmers State Bank of Geneseo.

Dr. Rehn was a member of the Alpha Chapter of the Alpha Gamma Rho, a national professional agricultural fraternity where he served as vice grand president . He was past chairman of the Illinois State Veterinary Association where he received his 50 year pin and he was a member of both the Illinois and the National Veterinary Licensing and Disciplinary Boards and the Illinois Department of Agriculture Cattle Research Committee

He was an avid Cubs and Illini Fan and in his retirement enjoyed farming with his brother and brother-in-law. He enjoyed being with his family and attending his grandchildren's activities.

Survivors include his wife, Jean, 1 daughter Lisa (David) Hamman of Naperville, Il, 1 son John (Jeralyn) Rehn of Galesburg, Il, his AFS daughter Dr. Maria Toro of Bogota, Columbia, 5 grandchildren, Jack and Savannah Hammon, Jensen, Tegan and John Rehn, a sister Ann (Wayne) French of Alpha , 1 brother Richard (Sally) Rehn of Osco , IL and several nieces and nephews.

His parents and a grandson Henry preceded him in death. "Lets Hear It For Osco"
